Social Media Pages That Help Me Stay Connected to Henry County

There’s something comforting about feeling connected to the community around you.

Not just knowing where the new restaurant opened or which road construction project is happening next… but feeling like you’re part of the conversation of everyday life here in Henry County.

Over the years, social media has become one of the ways I stay connected to what people are excited about, concerned about, celebrating, supporting, and talking about locally. Some pages help me discover new restaurants. Some keep me informed about community events. Others simply remind me how many people truly care about this area we call home.

As someone who helps people move into and out of Henry County every day, these pages also give me insight into what matters most to the people living here right now.

I Love McDonough

One thing that makes this page interesting is how actively engaged people are in the conversations happening there.

Because it’s a Facebook page rather than a community group, many of the posts naturally spark broader discussion about local growth, development, restaurants, events, and changes happening around McDonough and Henry County.

Whether people agree or disagree on different topics, it’s clear the community cares deeply about what happens here. Reading through the comments often gives an interesting snapshot of what people are thinking about locally at any given moment.

Fun little full-circle moment… the REALTOR® who manages the page is also the REALTOR® who helped me buy my own home when I first moved here years ago.

Our McDonough Life

When I first moved to McDonough, I spent a lot of time exploring local Facebook pages and community conversations trying to learn more about the area and the people who lived here.

What I noticed pretty quickly was that many online spaces naturally drifted toward heated development debates, political conversations, complaints, and community frustrations. While I understood why people cared so deeply about local issues, I also found myself wanting a calmer space focused more on the everyday things that help people feel connected to where they live.

That desire eventually led me to create Our McDonough Life.

The vision was actually very simple:
Celebrate the people, places, restaurants, events, small businesses, and community moments that make McDonough and Henry County special.

Over time, the group has grown very organically through people simply inviting friends, sharing experiences, supporting local businesses, and helping neighbors feel more connected to the community around them.

One of the greatest unexpected blessings has been the friendships and relationships that have formed through the group over the years. Watching people encourage one another, recommend local hidden gems, celebrate milestones, support community projects, and help local businesses thrive reminds me constantly how much heart this community truly has.

To me, that’s what community is feels like.

Henry County Rotary Club

Rotary has become a meaningful part of my life because it allows me to stay connected to people who genuinely want to improve the community around them.

Through service projects, partnerships with local nonprofits, and hands-on volunteer work, I’ve had the opportunity to meet some incredibly caring people who quietly work behind the scenes to make Henry County stronger.

Following local nonprofit and service-focused pages has also helped me discover organizations and causes I may never have known about otherwise.

Local Restaurant Pages

If you’ve followed my “Foodie Girl Find” posts for any length of time, you already know how much I enjoy discovering local restaurants and hearing the stories behind them.

Many local restaurants do an incredible job sharing specials, events, and behind-the-scenes moments on social media. It’s one of the easiest ways to discover places I may not have tried otherwise.

Honestly, some of our favorite nights out started because of a simple Facebook post.

Why This Matters More Than Ever

One thing I’ve realized over the years is that people don’t just move because of square footage, school districts, or interest rates.

People move for connection.

They want to feel like they belong somewhere.

They want to know where the good local restaurants are, what community events happen during the year, where families gather, and whether the people around them care about the place they live.

That’s one reason I enjoy staying involved locally and sharing these kinds of stories here on the blog. Real estate may begin with a house, but for most people, happiness comes from finding community.

And Henry County has a lot of heart.
